Symmes Chapel | Engagement Proposal | Meghan & Tanner

Nestled 10 miles off the highway with a view like no other, Symmes Chapel, is also called Pretty Place will make your jaw drop. Tanner had thoroughly, planned everything for his proposal to Meghan. The ring was purchased in May and Symmes Chapel was reserved for 8.28.16. The date was specific since it referenced the scripture of Romans 8:28 which says “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose.”  The scripture has had special meaning to Tanner and Meghan. After receiving a blessing from Meghan’s father, Tanner and I grabbed some coffee to talk about the details.

On Sunday, August 28, 2016, everything was ready to go at 3 pm when the bottom fell out almost entirely soaking the bible turned open to Romans 8:28 and a ring in a box placed behind the cross. Meghan had never been to Symmes Chapel, though she didn’t notice that Tanner continued to drive up the mountain passing three signs that said Symmes Chapel was closed for a private ceremony. This private ceremony was Tanner’s proposal to her. She had been expecting him to ask her to married him in recent events but every time she would talk herself out of it. Tanner has also jokingly messed around with it before. Though on the day that it was going to happen, no ideas or suspicious thoughts had surfaced in her mind.

The moment I saw the two pull up the rain stopped. I quickly placed the open Bible and ring box back and dashed back up the steps. Luckily when I saw them pull up only Tanner saw me since Meghan was looking at him. I was hidden behind the wall when they walked in and followed quietly behind them. Meghan thought nothing about the bible that someone must have left behind until she noticed it was turned to Romans 8.28. That’s when Tanner dropped to one knee and asked her to marry him! She said “yes”!!!

Congratulations to Megan and Tanner on your engagement!
