Go where you feel alive is an understatement for this location along the Appalachian trail. Roan Mountain is one of my favorite locations, I discovered it last June for another engagement session and I could not wait to be back there again this summer. When Kayla first contacted me she told me how her and Silas loved the mountains. A main reason why they chose their wedding venue (Gambill Estate) love of the views it has to offer. When suggesting locations for engagement photos of course I mentioned Roan Mountain, hoping they would love it as well, how could anyone not!?! Kayla and Silas was up for this day trip adventure. Although we laugh after the fact, we got lost because of gps, no service, and dead end gravel roads but that’s some of the fun in adventures. After a quick half mile hike up to what they call the Round Bald, crossing back and forth across the Tennessee/North Carolina state lines it opens up to 360 views with nothing but ultimate lighting and rolling sea of blue ridge mountains. Spending time hiking up I really get to know my couples, we talk about EVERYTHING. Besides creating magic that’s a favorite part of my job is getting to know my couples. Kayla and Silas just lit up in their photos, so natural although they will never admit that. Kayla and Silas met because of a wedding and I can’t think of a more romantic way of meeting someone. Though it turns out after being introduced they live with in a couple of miles of each other. They never met before and went to two different high schools. I’m so thankful that their paths crossed and we’re here today planning their wedding. Congratulations to this adventurous couple, Kayla and Silas on their engagement.Â
