Holly & Robert Engaged!

Last Saturday I spent the afternoon with Holly and Robert! They are such the perfect couple together. Though the afternoon had freezing temperatures and it was windy, we had a great time! Their engagement session took place downtown Kernersville, NC at the factory, train depot, and a local town park.

Holly and Robert recently got engaged on January 9, 2016, at Shelton Vineyards in Dobson, NC. I just love hearing all about their proposal. It was well thought through, Robert did very well. Here is their proposal and how it happened!

Robert and Holly drove approximately 1.5 hours from Greensboro to Shelton Vineyards. Neither one of them had been there before, and Robert had told Holly a harmless little white lie that it would be an adventure for the two of them, especially since she wondered how he found the vineyard in the first place and asked why Robert chose one that was that far away. Robert pulled that one off smoothly, whew! It is important to note that Robert was antsy the entire drive and kept wiping his hands on his pants because they were getting a little sweaty, haha! Needless to say, Robert was quite nervous. He knew Holly would say yes, but worried that everything went according to plan without a hitch. Robert had it all planned out and what Holly didn’t know was that he secretly had their very close mutual friend, Dylan, drive to the vineyard as well. Dylan and Robert had discussed the plans beforehand that he was to get to the vineyard 30 minutes before they would arrive. That way it would give him time to coordinate with the staff and so he could hide to take photos. Also, he was to give the staff the bottle of wine that Robert was using in the proposal. Robert already had one of his close friends, Brandon, who does graphic design, to created a wine label that stated “Holly, will you marry me”? The label then applied to a bottle of wine which had been made and bottled by Holly’s mother and aunt, at Thistle Wine Shop in Kernersville, NC. Robert had the following plan worked out. To have a private tour, tasting, and then he would propose. Robert and Holly got to the vineyard, met with the staff at the front, and began their private tour. The tour guide took them around the facility as on any other regular tour, except for the fact that this one was just for them two. During their tour, when the tour guide got to one of the wine cellars that they call “The Cave.” Already in this cellar, Dylan was secretly hiding behind a door, and the wine bottle hidden in one of the empty wooden barrels they use to age the wine. After the tour guide had finished talking about the cellar, she looked at Robert and Holly as planned and said that as a gift, they wanted to give them one of their “Limited Edition Signature Wines.” Though this was Robert’s wine bottle as I described previously. The tour guide presented and gave the wine bottle to Holly so she could read it. As she glanced at the wine bottle, Robert got down on one knee and asked Holly to marry him. Let me emphasize that Robert made Holly cry….Applause!! She said yes!!! Afterward, they all celebrated after over dinner and wine. Robert and Holly’s proposal is a perfect fairytale story! The End!
