NC Styled Proposal | John and Jessica | Engaged

John and Jessica

John had original plans to purpose early in November in the mountains or even at the Christmas tree farm in Boone. John’s plans were altered because the most beautiful ring for Jessica from James Allen in New York was not ready. Oh bummer!

Two days before Thanksgiving John sent me a text (by the way John was stored in my phone as Jack Fargo, just incase I may have been around Jessica) his text asked me what I was doing tomorrow. I just thought he may have been wanting to get lunch and talk about some plans for his proposal to Jessica. I replied back saying I didn’t have any plans and asked him what he was doing tomorrow. He said PROPOSING! The ring had just arrived and he wanted Jessica to have it before Thanksgiving! He had also mention he wanted to do it in their home after he got of work involving roses, pizza, champagne, strawberries, and candles. Well, of course the pizza part struck a question and I asked him why. He said Jessica had seen a pizza before used in a proposal before and they were bashing on the guy for using it. Jessica thought it was cute and said she would want a pizza at her proposal. John got the perfect heart pizza from Elizabeth’s in Kernersville,NC. Like me, Jessica loves pizza.

I was taking care of the candles and roses. John was probably just thinking a couple of candles here and there but I wasn’t. After getting a key from Jessica’s sister to their house, I filled their home with over 200 candles. It was dreamy. This was all set up before John got off work. I couldn’t have done it without some amazing ladies. We moved furniture to make way for the path that led Jessica from the door to John. John was very pleased and wasn’t expecting it at all.

Jessica’s sister, Charlotte was apart of keeping Jessica busy so that she wouldn’t be home right after work. Although Jessica had plans to go straight home from the salon to bake pies for Thanksgiving day. Charlotte got Jessica to go to the mall to pick out makeup that Jessica had been wanting to get. Along with her was also her friend Georgia and her California cousin Jacklyn. Jessica had no idea though Charlotte was busting at the seams to tell her it was happening that night!

John and Jessica’s house was filled with candles, white roses petals, and little black and white photos hanging in the foyer for her to walk through as she entered. We were ready to go! The perfect proposal was set up, all that was left to do was light the candles and have Jessica walk in. Knowing that it would take a few minutes to light 200 candles, Charlotte informed us exactly when they got off the exit from interstate business 40. I knew it would only take about 7 minutes for her to drop Jessica off at her car that was still at the salon. Then about 5 minute for Jessica to drive to the house. It was go time. About 5 of us started lighting all the candles. John was shaking. I was shaking. I’m not sure why but I get nervous too. Jessica usually parks in the garage, we unplugged the automatic door, John told her it was broke so she would have to go through the front door. Every candle was lit. The house temperature rose about 15 degrees higher. We were in place and excited for her to walk in.
